Clinical and non-clinical training programs serve a higher purpose than continuing education. Ultimately these programs are focused on improving the quality of patient care. The Education Therapist must instruct and lead sessions with these goals in mind.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Develop plans to meet the educational needs of the residents that will enable them to work towards completion of academic requirements.
Facilitate the educational process as demonstrated by obtaining and documenting accurate educational assessment information within 72 hours of admission.
Assist in formulating a treatment plan of care considering cultural, environmental, psychosocial, and economic factors and values
Contribute to the evaluation and revision of the treatment plan every ninety (90) days
Initiate the discharge planning process upon admission; coordinate the receipt of transcripts with case worker.
Assure release of information is obtained for Logos School and complete all requests.
Demonstrate clinical competence as shown by exhibiting basic educational skills in classroom setting. Prepare for classroom work and associated duties; tutor residents as needed.
Adapt and implement teaching techniques to level of resident comprehension.
Teach individual and group independent living skills.
Maintaining documentation standards by completing progress notes every two (2) weeks
Validate and document resident understanding related to teaching/tutoring
Create and update written educational summaries to be included in Monthly Reports.
Provide updated educational summaries and transcripts to receiving school corporations or placing agencies upon discharge.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
Understanding and applicability of developmental, behavioral, emotional components of childhood and/or adolescents.
Demonstrate emotional stability.
High personal and professional integrity.
Excellent communication skills oral and written.
Strong instruction and facilitation skills, able to adjust techniques to accommodate individual learners or diverse learning outcomes.
