WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Developmental therapists have the special training to evaluate adolescent patients and develop a plan to help enhance child development. It's a job that requires a special touch and the ability to establish good patient relationships. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide developmental testing including cognitive, adaptive, and social/emotional components for early intervention clients of ages 0-3.
Provide developmental testing for children ages 3-5 primarily for parents seeking a second opinion.
Provide both individual and group developmental therapy services to infants and children.
Provide consultation services for area day care centers and preschools that wish to integrate special needs children into their programs.
Provide families with information, skills, and support related to enhancing their child's development.
Plan and participate in direct activities with the child designed to enhance the child's development in one or more developmental domains including cognitive, adaptive, social/emotional, motor, and communication development.
Provide accurate, complete, and timely documentation.
Provide programs and education in the natural setting of the child and family.
Assume responsibility for self-development.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
Degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or Child Development.
Experience teaching pre-school or elementary students.
Utilize time productively.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Exercise safe judgement in decision making.
Demonstrate tact and understanding when dealing with others. Respond in a positive manner to constructive criticism.
Speak clearly and distinctly.
